Project created during Humber College Program 2020
This was a simple project which we had to present a brand that we liked and make some posts and stories for their Instagram.
The brand I chose is called Havaianas, a popular Brazilian flip-flop brand created in 1962 by Alpargatas in Sao Paulo. The brand is also known for its vibrant colours and fun in their products and campaigns. It is one of the brands that were successfully able to turn a basic flip-flop into a real fashion accessory. They have expanded their products to include apparels, closed shoes, sunglasses, bags and many other items.
The target audience is very wide, including all social classes and all genders from 16 to 50 years old. They are all looking for comfort, simplicity and style on their flip-flops.
The main challenge was to make content for posts and stories for their Instagram. At the time I looked at Havaianas USA/Canada social media, I realized that their posts were all very clean with images of young people happy showcasing the products and their styles, and a few images of the product alone. The images are great, but a brand that is fun and colourful deserves a bit more creativity and playfulness with some graphic elements.
My solution was inspired by the fact that Summer is coming and it is nice to remember people of this amazing season. I wanted to use simple elements and colours to resemble the beach. Since Instagram had already a lot of images of people, I just played more with the products and tried to bring more colours to it.
I created the texts on these posts. I tried to keep it clean like they already do on Instagram. I used just a couple of lines and tried to include the hashtags into the texts. The middle post is very simple, showcasing the products with their different sizes and colours. I just wanted this to work as a reminder that Havaianas has products for all the family, not only adults.
And finally, my stories follow the same concept as the posts but a bit more dynamic and fun.
